Devin Booker's recent comments about the Super Bowl halftime performance went viral due to Bad Bunny and him sharing an ex.

Bad Bunny, who is Puerto Rican, made history as the first solo Latino male performer during the Super Bowl 60 halftime show, but Booker shared a blunt response in reaction to the show.

“I’m Mexican, I didn’t watch to be completely honest,” Booker told reporters. Booker is mixed race with an African-American father and a Mexican mother.

Some fans viewed Booker's response as shady, and others saw it as just the NBA star sharing his honest opinion. 

"I wouldn’t have watched it too if I was him," one fan wrote on X, seemingly calling out both the singer and athlete's dating history.

One fan asked why Booker needed to point out he's Mexican despite Bad Bunny going #1 in the charts in China. Another fan responded that it's due to his "beef with Bad Bunny over Kendall Jenner."

The beef between Booker and Bad Bunny stems way before the Puerto Rican singer/rapper took the stage earlier this month. The Phoenix Suns star dated Jenner in 2020 and broke up in 2022. The following year, Jenner began dating Bad Bunny. They would break up their romance in February 2023 to December 2023. Jenner and the musician would get back together briefly in May 2024 before splitting again in September 2024.

When Bad Bunny was dating Jenner, he was featured in a song titled "Coco Chanel" by Eladio Carrión. One line in particular was a direct hit at Booker and his past relationship with his then-girlfriend.

"Pero el sol de PR calienta má' que el de Phoenix / Ella lo sabe" Bad Bunny sings, which is translated in English to: "But the sun in PR is hotter than in Phoenix / She knows it." Bad Bunny compares his home in Puerto Rico to Booker's NBA team, the Phoenix Suns, in a quick jab at the NBA star.

Booker reportedly responded back to Bad Bunny in a message on social media at the time, per People, "He worried about another MAN again," the NBA guard reportedly wrote.

Jenner has not commented on Booker's response to Bad Bunny's Super Bowl performance, but the NBA star's response does follow a flirty exchange between him and the model, sparking reconciliation rumors.
