Carlos Adames vs Austin Williams rescheduled for March 21st in Orlando

After withdrawing from their planned showdown last month at the eleventh hour, Carlos Adames is once again set to defend his WBC middleweight title against Austin “Ammo” Williams, this time in a March 21st DAZN main event from Orlando’s Caribe Royale Resort.
Adames (24-1-1, 18 KO), a former super welterweight prospect who broke through at middleweight following an upset loss to Patrick Teixeira, has not fought more than once in a calendar year since 2021. A thrashing of Juan Macias Montiel earned him the interim WBC title, which he defended against “J-Rock” Williams before the sanctioning body finally had enough of champion Jermall Charlo and elevated “Bronco” to take his place.

His two defenses have seen him cruise past Terrell Gausha and fight Hamzah Sheeraz to a contentious draw.
“Life doesn’t repeat opportunities – if you escaped once, consider it a miracle,” said Adames. “Destiny forgives once. After that, it collects. Not everyone gets two warnings. He already used one. Danger is coming to Orlando on March 21!”
Williams (20-1, 13 KO) looks to have rebuilt nicely since his own unfortunate run-in with Sheeraz, notably beating veteran Patrice Volny last year and last-minute replacement Wendy Toussaint a few weeks back. It’s unclear to me why he’s getting this opportunity when there’s an interim champion (Jesus Ramos) and mandatory challenger (Meiirim Nursultanov) in the way, but he figures to make for a quality scrap with Adames.
“The second Ammo Show will be electric,” said Williams. “This is the moment I become WBC Champion of the World and begin my reign. Ten years of dedication all boiling down to one night, don’t miss it!”
Per the press release, Olympians Omari Jones (5-0, 4 KO) and Teremoana Teremoana (9-0, 9 KO) will face the fearsome TBA Twins on the undercard.
