Packers DB Javon Bullard switches to Quay Walker's old number

· Yahoo Sports

Quay Walker departed the Green Bay Packers in free agency, but Jonathan Gannon's defense will still have a No. 7 in the starting lineup in 2026. With Walker now in Las Vegas and his old number vacated in Green Bay, Packers slot defender and safety Javon Bullard has made the switch from No. 20 -- his number for his first two pro seasons -- to No. 7.

The change is official per the Packers roster on the team's official site.

Bullard wore No. 1 in high school, No. 22 at Georgia and No. 20 to start his NFL career, but No. 7 is a coveted number at both the collegiate and professional level, especially now that the NFL allows more players to wear single digits.

Bullard, a second-round pick in 2024, played the majority of his snaps at safety as a rookie, but he moved into a nearly full-time slot role in 2025. Given the makeup of the roster, Bullard is expected to remain in the slot in 2026. He'll just be lining up inside with a new number.

Walker wore No. 7 for all four of his seasons with the Packers. He signed a three-year, $40.5 million deal with the Raiders last month.

Others to wear No. 7 for the Packers include quarterbacks Don Majikowski and Brett Hundley and punters Corey Bojorquez and Jeremy Kapinos. Bullard will be the first defensive back to wear the number in Green Bay since the NFL rule change.
