Bayern Munich just earned a massive result in the Champions League, edging Real Madrid 2-1 in Spain to carry a huge advantage heading into the second leg. While that match is scheduled for next week as part of the two late kickoffs, the Bavarians must travel north to face relegation threatened St. Pauli, who hasn’t won a game of football since February.

The Rekordmeister had an unusually tough time against the Kiezkicker last time out, needing late stoppage time goals from Luis Díaz and Nicolas Jackson to seal the win. With the much-anticipated return leg against Los Blancos at the Allianz next week, Vincent Kompany wants his best players rested up. At the same time, giving a win away is not very Bayern-like.
