Lightning’s Declan Carlile Finds Scoresheet for Team USA at IIHF World Championship

Just a few weeks out from the Lightning’s first-round playoff exit to the Montreal Canadiens, Declan Carlile is already back on the ice representing Team USA at the 2026 IIHF Men’s World Championship.

On Sunday, the United States bounced back from a loss to Switzerland with a 5-1 victory over Great Britain at the tournament. Carlile had a strong performance, scoring a goal and an assist.

Mathieu Olivier and Carlile scored just 15 seconds apart early in the third period to give the U.S. a 4-1 lead. Olivier buried a rebound before Carlile found the back of the net on a deflected shot from the blue line.

The 16-team tournament is divided into two eight-team groups during the preliminary round, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals on May 28. The tournament then shifts to a single-elimination format, with the semifinals set for May 30 before the bronze and gold medal games on May 31.

Preliminary-round play began Friday, May 15 with the tournament concluding on Sunday, May 31.
