Second-seeded Conwell-Egan and No. 3 Archbishop Wood met in the semifinals of the Philadelphia Catholic League baseball playoffs, with top-seeded La Salle hosting Neumann-Goretti.

Semifinals: Monday, May 18

(2) Conwell-Egan4,(3) Archbishop Wood2:CEC rode a three-run fourth inning and the pitching of juniors Brady Guzzie and CJ Cuaves to a 4-2 victory over visiting Wood. Guzzie, who had two RBIs, plated the first run on a fielder's choice and then senior outfielder Connor Landau tripled to right field, scoring Guzzie. Landau scored on a sacrifice fly by senior catcher Tommy Kalita. The Catholic League MVP, Guzzie added a fifth-inning RBI single. Guzzie (7-0) allowed six hits, two earned runs, walked three and struck out nine in 5⅔ innings, then Cuaves struck out two of the final four batters he faced.

For the Vikings, junior Averell Walls had an RBI single up the middle and senior center fielder Chase Cavallaro (two hits) contributed an RBI double. Senior pitcher Jack Coughlin went 4⅔ innings, giving up three hits and one earned run. ... Conwell-Egan also downed Wood 4-2 during the regular season. Both schools are in Class 4A, so CEC will be the top seed from District 12 and Wood the No. 2 seed in the PIAA state tournament.

(1) La Salle 12, (4) Neumann-Goretti 2 (6 innings): After trailing 1-0 through three innings, the host Explorers rolled to a 12-2 victory by scoring six runs in the fourth and sixth. La Salle senior Caden Schmidt had a home run and three RBIs, while junior Kaden Cortez (two hits) added a triple and two RBIs. Junior Alex Hisem allowed five hits and one earned run in 4⅓ innings, with senior Drew Welsh providing 1⅔ hitless innings of relief. ... La Salle lost its only PCL regular season game to N-G 9-3 on March 30.

Championship: Friday, May 22

(1) La Salle vs. (3) Conwell-Egan at Tommy Lasorda Field at Meiklejohn Stadium, UPenn, noon: La Salle topped visiting CEC 3-1 on May 4. ... The Eagles' last PCL title was in 2006, which also marked their most recent trip to the championship game. La Salle won the title most recently in 2024.

Quarterfinals: Wednesday, May 13

No. 1 La Salle5, No. 10 Cardinal O'Hara 0: Senior Cooper Weisswent six innings, allowing five hits, two walks and striking out three for the Explorers. Senior Drew Welsh handled the seventh to complete the shutout. Sophomore Michael O'Connor led the offense with a triple and two RBIs, with senior Luke Borgmann providing a double, triple and RBI and senior Matt Wambold contributed two hits and an RBI. ... La Salle secured the top seed with an 11-1 PCL record and downed O'Hara 12-4 on May 7.

No. 2 Conwell-Egan6, No. 9 Father Judge 0: Junior Brady Guzzie again dominated on the mound and added two doubles as the host Eagles advanced. Voted the Catholic League MVP, Guzzie threw a complete game 1-hitter, walking one and striking out 12 to surpass 200 in his career. Seniors Tommy Kalita (double) and Keegan Johnson each contributed two hits and an RBI, while senior Jake Mclain and junior Colin Laverty provided one hit and one RBI apiece. ... CEC finished second in the PCL regular season (10-2). It toppled Judge 23-2 during the regular season.

No. 3 Archbishop Wood 6,No. 6 Devon Prep 1: Junior Averell Wells paced the host Vikings' offense with two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Seniors Caden Vacca (double) and Chase Cavallaro each provided two hits and an RBI. Senior Brady Sell earned the pitching win, giving up three hits, no earned runs and four walks with 10 strikeouts in 6⅓ innings. Senior Jack Coughlin got the last two outs. ... Wood took third with a 9-3 PCL regular season mark, defeating Devon Prep 4-1 in the regular season.
