MLB fans are slamming Pete Crow-Armstrong after the Chicago Cubs star was heard using vulgar language with a fan on Sunday, May 17, 2026. After the clip began gaining traction, Crow-Armstrong, known as PCA, seemed to apologize for his words, admitting the emotional response wasn’t like him at all.

Pete Crow-Armstrong Heard On Camera Using NSFW Language With A Female Fan During A Chicago Cubs Game

It all went on down on Sunday, May 17, when the Cubs took on their cross-town rivals, the Chicago White Sox.

During the fifth inning, PCA was seen running on the field, trying to track down a fly ball. However, things didn’t go his way, as he slammed into the fence and later sat on the ground, appearing dumbfounded by what had happened.

It was in that moment that a female White Sox fan could be seen on camera crashing out, heckling PCA over the drop.

Instead of ignoring the fans’ words, the 24-year-old shot back with a vulgar statement: “Suck my f-cking d–k b–ch.”

Speaking with ESPN, PCA admitted he had regrets about his “choice of words,” especially because of how they would affect those closest to him.

“Directly or indirectly, I don’t think that any of the women in my life would think I would say those kinds of words regularly. I’m just bummed out about the word choice and a bunch of little kids going to social media and seeing that as well,” he said.

Despite being on camera, PCA said that the heat of the moment sparked his emotional response. “I saw the cameras in my face, it’s not like I didn’t,” he said, admitting he knew the clip had gone viral.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell also responded to the video, seemingly offering grace and understanding to his young star.

“Pete made a mistake with his choice of words,” Counsell said. “He’s aware of that. … It’s the reality of this job. Fan interactions happen. You want to try and keep them positive even when they’re not.”

MLB fans have shared their reactions to PCA’s NSFW response on Reddit, and many appear unamused by the All-Star’s words or apology.

“A very over emotional reaction. Makes you wonder if he can handle the pressures of major league baseball. Should probably send him down for the next two days,” someone wrote, while another said, “He regrets that there were mics that picked it up. That’s all.”

Someone else condemned his words, writing, “Didn’t do his family proud there. I’m shocked how easily those words came out to a woman… even if she was heckling.”

And another added: “I’m guessing that wasn’t the first time that came out of his mouth. Watch the dudes that say stuff like that so effortlessly when insulted or challenged.”

One MLB Player Faced Backlash After Using A Homophobic Slur During A Game

PCA isn’t the first professional baseball player to be criticized by the public over comments some deem inappropriate.

According to MLB News, Boston Red Sox player Jarren Duran was under scrutiny in 2024 after calling a heckler a “f—-t” while at bat.

His words were so loud that they were captured and aired during the live MLB broadcast.

Durran received an unpaid two-game suspension by the Red Sox, and that portion of his salary was donated to PFLAG Boston, an offshoot of PFLAG National, one of the country’s biggest LGBTQ+ organizations.

Duran also issued an apology after the incident, admitting he used a “truly horrific word when responding to a fan.”

Duran explained that he felt “awful” knowing he hurt people in the community before apologizing to the Red Sox team and “the entire LGBTQ community.”

“Our young fans are supposed to be able to look up to me as a role model, but tonight I fell far short of that responsibility. I will use this opportunity to educate myself and my teammates and to grow as a person,” he finished.

The Red Sox, too, released a statement, condemning Duran’s comments and offering support to the queer community.

“We strive to be an organization that welcomes all fans to Fenway Park, and we will continue to educate our employees, players, coaches and staff on the importance of inclusivity,” the statement finished.
