Cleveland Guardians Announce Unfortunate Jose Ramirez Injury News
· Yahoo Sports
The Cleveland Guardians may have beaten their division rival, the Detroit Tigers, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon, but the team still suffered the biggest possible loss they could imagine in the process.
After both Angel Martinez and Chase DeLauter exited Saturday’s game with injuries, Jose Ramirez was the third Guardian to leave the game.

There was no immediate update on what the issue was, leaving many speculating.
After the game, manager Stephen Vogt confirmed that Ramirez suffered a left hamate fracture on a foul ball pop-up in a previous at-bat in the fifth inning.
Ramirez suffered a similar injury back during the 2019 season, only on his right hand. He was sidelined for over a month with the injury and ended up undergoing surgery to repair it, too.
As for the most recent injury, Vogt clarified that “We still don’t know the logistics or timing,” but the team “should have more information in the next couple of days.”
Even though the Guardians are still working through the logistics and what the next steps are for Ramirez and the team as a whole, it certainly sounds like the Guardians' superstar will end up on the injured list for the foreseeable future.

After Ramirez exited, Rhys Hoskins was forced to play left field.
“He tried to go back out,” said Cleveland’s skipper. “He knew the position we were in. He grabbed his glove. He said, ‘Maybe I can at least play defense,’ and he couldn’t squeeze his glove.”
Ramirez has been having an unusual season for his standards up to this point in the year. Through his 268 at-bats, he owns a .239/.339/.418 slash line, with 10 home runs. Over the last few weeks, he has seen an uptick in production.
Ramirez has picked up this team so many times over the last decade, but now, with him facing a potential lengthy road to recovery, it will be time for the rest of Cleveland’s roster to pick him up until the star can return.
