Coincidentally, The Athletic recently revisited the best and worst uniforms of each team in NFL history. For a team with more than two decades of history in Nashville, but an even longer history dating back to their days as the Houston Oilers, there was no shortage of opinions.
The Rebrand lines up with their best uniforms
Through the various Titans and Oilers uniform eras, The Athletic landed on their 1975-1997 Houston Oilers uniforms as the best in franchise history. The worst? The Titans' recent Navy-themed style that was rebranded in 2018 until last year. Their reasoning? The same reason there was much excitement throughout the NFL when they rebranded this offseason.
The Columbia blue-themed style has been widely seen as one of the best in the history of the NFL period! When the Titans utilized that style for two games during the 2023 season and once more for their home finale in January 2025, buzz generated about a potential rebrand back to it.
The rebrand serves as an opportunity for a breath of fresh air as the franchise nears transition to its new stadium in 2027.
