A.J. was traded to the New England Patriots this offseason from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jaylen is going the other direction, dealt from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Turns out, that's not the only irony.

Jaylen revealed to NBC Sports Boston that they're related.

How are Jaylen Brown and A.J. Brown related?

Jaylen and A.J. are first cousins once removed.

The report from NBC Sports Boston indicates that Jaylen and A.J.'s grandfathers are brothers.

Definitely some talented, athletic genes in that family, to be sure.

It's too bad they aren't both still in the Boston area to shine in the same city. And it's even more ironic that Philly was involved on the other side of both trades.

A.J. should be a big boost for the Pats. He had a drama-filled season with the Eagles, but he's still one of the NFL's top wideouts, and he should work well with Drake Maye.

The Jaylen Brown trade is a bit more contentious, given that the Celtics' current roster appears to take a downgrade to Paul George (before future draft picks get involved).

But both of the trade outcomes will play themselves out in time.

For now, it's just quite amusing that these two guys are cousins, and that they were traded in and out of town in such short order.
