Hornets legend reveals thoughts on LaMelo Ball trade

A former Charlotte Hornets point guard and franchise legend Muggsy Bogues recently revealed his thoughts on the trade that sent LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a package headlined by Naz Reid and draft capital.

Bogues said, “It hurts my heart. It’s a gamble in a sense where Melo had just grown up; they had him at a level where he never had those pieces around him.”
Although the Hornets are positioned well for the future, many fans agree with the sentiment shared by Bogues. With Ball and Brandon Miller healthy, the Hornets were a top-five team since January, ranking first in both offense and net rating. Charlotte also ranked fifth in defense. Rookies Kon Knueppel, Sion James and Ryan Kalkbrenner played a big role in this success as well, as the Hornets finished the season with a 33-16 record since January.
Now with additions like Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale, Naz Reid, Christian Anderson Jr. and Hannes Steinbach, Charlotte will hope to develop another strong rookie class and improve on a ninth-place finish in the Eastern Conference from a season ago.
