Pirates trade veteran pitcher to the White Sox

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – The Pittsburgh Pirates traded veteran pitcher Jose Urquidy to the Chicago White Sox on Sunday evening.

In exchange, Pittsburgh receives minor league right-handed pitcher Felix Doroteo in the deal.

Urquidy was designated for assignment by Pittsburgh on Friday.

He appeared in five games with the Pirates this season, posting a record of 0-1 with an 8.53 ERA.

Urquidy, who owns a Major League record of 27-17 with a 4.07 ERA, signed a minor league deal with the Pirates last February, after previously playing for the Tigers and Astros.

Doroteo has spent the entire season with Chicago’s affiliate in the Arizona Complex League.

This season, he is 3-2 with a 4.50 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 18 innings.
