Kaizer Chiefs transfers: 15-goal winger joins African giants from Amakhosi

The 28-year-old winger leaves Naturena after an impressive 18-month spell in the Betway Premiership. Al Ahly Benghazi reportedly beat competition from Moroccan clubs Raja Casablanca and AS FAR Rabat. They submitted an offer that satisfied both the player and Kaizer Chiefs.

The Libyan club described Lilepo as a major addition to their squad as they prepare for the new season and continental competition.
“We are thrilled to officially welcome Glody Lilepo to our family as a cornerstone of our technical rebuild for the upcoming competitive cycle,” the club said.
“His exceptional pace, proven tactical creativity, and extensive experience navigating the pressures of the CAF Champions League will significantly elevate our attacking threshold as we fight for domestic glory and continental recognition.”
Lilepo arrives with valuable experience. He previously represented Valenciennes FC, Al Hilal Omdurman and AS Vita Club before joining Kaizer Chiefs in January 2025.
KAIZER CHIEFS CONFIRM DEPARTURE
Amakhosi also confirmed the permanent transfer in an official statement, thanking the winger for his contribution to the club.
“Kaizer Chiefs can confirm that a full agreement has been reached with Al Ahly Benghazi for the permanent transfer of Glody Makabi Lilepo.”
“While it is always difficult to bid farewell to a player of his calibre who made a distinct impact during his time with us. The deal represents a highly favorable outcome for all parties involved. We genuinely wish him the absolute best as he begins this new chapter of his career in Libya.”
Lilepo leaves Kaizer Chiefs after making 56 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists across all competitions. He played a key role in ending the club’s 10-year trophy drought by helping Amakhosi win the Nedbank Cup. He also contributed to back-to-back qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Reports suggest the winger’s decision was also influenced by personal reasons. This included his family experiencing ongoing difficulties obtaining the necessary documentation to join him in South Africa.
The move now sees Lilepo return to North African football. Al Ahly Benghazi will hope his pace, versatility and eye for goal can drive their challenge for domestic honours and success in continental competitions.
