Lubbock attorney's letter 'sounds alarm' on Protect College Sports Act

I am writing to sound the alarm regarding parts of the Protect College Sports Act bill that is pending in Congress (PCSA) that would grant the NCAA broad exemptions from accountability under Title IX and state laws, undermining decades of progress in ensuring equal opportunities and protections for female athletes.
The NCAA's poor track record of protecting female athletes raises serious questions about these exemptions, as it has previously allowed policies requiring women to compete against biological men and share locker rooms with them, disregarding the rights and safety of female athletes. These actions have faced public disapproval and legal challenges for violating the foundational principles of Title IX, the federal statute that was passed to provide equal opportunity for women and girls in education and school sports.

These overly broad exemptions in favor of the NCAA in the PCSA would effectively gut Title IX protections by shielding the NCAA from liability for eligibility decisions that discriminate against women, while also preempting state laws in 27 states, including Texas, that protect women’s sports.
This federal overreach would undermine state sovereignty and strip female athletes of critical protections that ensure a safe and level playing field. I urge everyone to contact our U.S. Senators and Representatives to demand that they take the NCAA exemption of liability out of this bill. Female athletes deserve fairness, safety, and equality in sports, virtues the PCSA will erode if we the people stay silent.
