Ex-Chivas Teammate Alan Mozo Sends Message to Armando Gonzalez After Olympiacos Move

Armando 'La Hormiga' Gonzalez's former teammate, Alan Mozo, sent him a message after his signing with Olympiacos F.C. from the Liga MX club Chivas.
Mozo, 29, spoke exclusively with Mexican outlet Claro Sports, and among the topics he touched on, he discussed Mexicans who recently made the jump to European soccer, including Gonzalez, 23.

He assured that "he is going to have a very good role in Greece," and also recognised Chivas' work with its academy players: "Armando's case is the example" of a club that can push its young players abroad.
He said, "I think La Hormiga is going to have a very good role in Greece. I wish him the best. I spent a lot of time with him; I have seen his growth, his evolution and his professionalism. I think it is an incredible opportunity for him, for all of Mexico and for Chivas, which also represents Armando over there."
Gonzalez's transfer to Olympiacos was closed for around $13 million, including bonuses, making it clear the club is looking for the Mexican as an immediate solution rather than to finish "developing" him, as some pundits in the Aztec country have suggested.
'Hormiga's' move to Greece has been heavily criticised in Mexico, as many perceive it as a destination for progress, but this narrative has been challenged by authoritative voices such as former Mexican player Nery Castillo.
“A little respect for Olympiacos” was among Castillo’s words. He noted that Gonzalez himself will now be able to see the true level of the Greek league firsthand.
