Here's when the Panthers expect to begin cuts for their initial 53-man roster

If you're plugged into who the Carolina Panthers are trimming off their roster heading into the regular season, then you may want to clear your schedule for the weekend.
Head coach Dave Canales spoke with reporters on Friday night, following his team's victorious showing in their preseason finale against the Houston Texans. He was asked when he thinks the organization's braintrust will get cracking on their roster cuts.

"They'll be in waves," Canales replied. "We'll start tomorrow [Saturday], with some guys. And it really goes both ways for us—when guys become available, it gives them a better opportunity to kinda be exposed to the rest of the league to see if people are watching their film. And then, of course, just kinda making those decisions.
"And the trickiest part with the practice squad is you're limited to how many veteran players you can keep—maximum six out of that group. So, that's a lot to work through—as we look at the 53, then we look at veteran players we're thinking of having come back."
Teams will have until 6:00 p.m. ET on Sunday to get down to their initial 53-man rosters for the 2026 campaign. They'll also be tasked with compiling their 13-player practice squad after the deadline.
The following day will then give front offices a chance to claim players who hit the waiver wire as a result of the cutdowns.
