Barcelona have received the administrative clearance they have been waiting for, with summer signing Jesse Bisiwu now approved to play for the first team in LaLiga.

According to SPORT, the 18-year-old Belgian winger has completed the necessary registration process and can now be selected by Hansi Flick for a competitive fixture.

That means Bisiwu could be included in Barcelona’s matchday squad as soon as next weekend if the manager decides the teenager is ready.

“Bisiwu has already received the necessary administrative approval to play in La Liga, so he could very well be included in the game-day roster next weekend if Flick sees fit,” reports the aforementioned outlet.

The development removes one of the biggest obstacles that has prevented Bisiwu from making his official Barcelona debut since arriving at the club during the summer.

Bisiwu’s start to life at Barcelona has been unusual. Despite completing his move during the summer, the youngster has been unable to feature in an official first-team match because of bureaucratic issues surrounding his registration.

He has not been completely without competitive action, though, having appeared in a friendly against Reus with the reserve side.

His most memorable involvement with Flick’s senior team came during pre-season, when he scored twice against Basel.

Those appearances offered an early glimpse of what Barcelona saw in the young Belgian, but competitive football has remained out of reach.

That situation has now changed.

With his La Liga approval secured, Bisiwu can be considered for first-team selection without the previous administrative barrier.

Barcelona also register Bisiwu for Champions League

The latest development follows another important step in Bisiwu’s integration into Barcelona’s senior setup.

Just days earlier, the winger was added to the club’s Champions League List A, giving him a pathway to European football as well.

Barcelona have registered Bisiwu with the number 27 for the competition, and the club is also working to make him available to Flick for Champions League fixtures after completing that registration.
