Haiden Deegan sweeps Columbus for SMX Playoffs Round 1 victory

COLUMBUS, Ohio: Haiden Deegan swept both motos of Round 1 of the 2026 SuperMotocross Playoffs at Historic Crew Stadium to score his first overall victory in the class. Deegan came close several times during the Pro Motocross series, but that did not dull his enthusiasm for the final three races.

Deegan earned the holeshot with Ken Roczen in pursuit. The two riders raced within three seconds in the first half of the race, but after the halfway mark, Deegan stretched his advantage over Roczen.

Roczen was second overall with second-place results in both races.

Cooper Webb slotted into third early and kept his bike upright in tricky conditions to finish third overall.

Meanwhile there was more trouble for Hunter Lawrence on the start. He was outside the top 15 on Lap 2. Lawrence crashed at the halfway mark to complete his disappointing day.

Malcolm Stewart and Jason Anderson came together on Lap 2 and sent both to the ground hard. Stewart helped Anderson to his feet, but the race was over for Anderson.

Jorge Prado took over the championship lead after finishing fourth in Moto 2 on the heels of a third in the first race.

Joey Savatgy and Aaron Plessinger battled hard for the fifth position throughout the race with Savatgy taking the position.
