A teenage boy is dead after a brazen daylight shooting on Monday afternoon in North York.
Toronto Police responded to reports of a shooting at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday in the Jane-Finch neighbourhood and located a male victim who had been shot.
A teenage boy was rushed to a hospital via an emergency run, police said, but was later pronounced dead.
Cops said the homicide unit had taken over the investigation.
No suspect information available
Reports from the scene said evidence markers were spotted around a skateboard at the scene of the shooting in the Jane St.-Finch Ave. W area. Police had yet to announce more details about the incident, including if any suspects were being sought.
The victim’s identity had not been released either.
Toronto Police Supt. Jack Gurr told reporters at the scene that it was a “very sad day” for the community.
“There is a family in our division who has been traumatized and has a loved one that’s not coming home,” he said, via CP24.
“For the person who did this, get a lawyer and turn yourself in.”

Road closures in area
The incident led to numerous road closures in the area including eastbound Finch at Elana Dr., westbound Finch at Driftwood Ave., southbound Jane at San Romanoway and northbound Jane at Yewtree Blvd.
The TTC also said that there was no service on Line 6 Finch West between Norfinch Oakdale and Driftwood stations and that shuttle buses were running between those stations instead.
