Aaron Donald is officially back. The Los Angeles Rams legend announced that he’ll be returning for the 2026 season, but it took until Week 2 for Donald to make his season debut. His return came at a timely moment for Los Angeles, as they’re already missing one of their star pass-rushers for the year.
That being said… how does Donald feel in his first game back? Well, the star defensive tackle joked that he’s feeling a little sore in his first game back. The Rams star would later add that he feels great, per Greg Beacham on X.
Perhaps part of the reason Donald felt great was that he did not play a full workload yet. The Rams planned to ease their star pass-rusher back into action, and they remained true to their word. He played in just 32 total defensive snaps against the New York Giants in Week 2, playing 14 snaps against the run and 18 snaps as a pass rusher. Despite the long absence, Donald still made his presence known in his limited action.

Rams head coach Sean McVay gushed about Donald in his return. “He just elevates people he’s around and situations he’s a part of,” he said. “If you didn’t get chills when he was introduced, then you’re not freaking alive. That was awesome. It was one of those deals that you get an opportunity to say, ‘Just watch what the hell I do and follow my freaking lead,’ and that’s what this guy does. I love him.”
Donald retired from the NFL after the 2023 season after 10 seasons in the league. The Rams legend earned a ton of accolades during his time in the league: eight All-Pro selections, three Defensive Player of the Year awards, and ten Pro Bowl awards. His biggest achievement came in the 2021 season, when he helped lead Los Angeles to their first Super Bowl since 2000. Donald was named Super Bowl MVP in that game as well.
The Rams will take on the Denver Broncos in Week 3, with Donald expected to take a slightly heavier load this time around.
