CHINA SPRING, Texas (FOX 44) - Brownwood ended a three-game losing streak Friday night, pulling away from China Spring for a 42-21 victory at Cougar Stadium.
The Lions entered the game looking for their first victory since a season-opening 13-7 win over Abilene Wylie. Brownwood had dropped three straight since then, including a 64-9 loss to Graham last week.

China Spring was trying to stop a three-game skid of its own.
Instead, Brownwood found the response it had been looking for, scoring 42 points against the Cougars to improve to 2-3 heading into an open week.
China Spring fell to 1-4 with the loss, but the Cougars once again showed the ability to put points on the board. After opening the season with a 45-12 win over Connally, China Spring had lost three consecutive games by a combined 13 points, falling 29-23 to Waco University, 41-37 to Gatesville and 42-39 to Glen Rose.
Friday night's loss was the first during that stretch decided by more than six points.
The game also marked China Spring's homecoming and its final tune-up before District 12-4A Division I play begins.
Both teams now get a week off before beginning their district schedules on Oct. 9.
China Spring will remain at home to host Burnet in its district opener. The Cougars will then travel to Stephenville before closing the regular season against Marble Falls, Jarrell and Lampasas.
Brownwood returns home Oct. 9 to begin District 13-4A Division II play against La Vega. The Lions' district schedule also includes Robinson, Gatesville, Connally and Salado.
