After coming up short against the Atlanta Braves during Blake Snell’s Game 2 start in LA, the Los Angeles Dodgers took the show on the road and brought their big guns to Game 3 of the NLDS at Truist Park.

With 2025 World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound, the Dodgers consistently found ways to attack Chris Sale inning after inning, forcing the veteran pitcher to throw 15, 20, or even more pitches seemingly every time he took the mound. This strategy really broke things open in the fourth inning when, after Andy Pages singled to lead things off, Kike Hernandez continued his Mr. October magic by hitting a home run, and then Freddie Freeman, once Atlanta’s favorite son, bashed in another one batter later to go up 3-0.

Now granted, the Braves did their best to make Yamamoto’s night challenging, including a fifth inning where he had the bases loaded but only one out, but last year’s World Series MVP worked his way out of it, surrendering his only run of the game through 7.0. With Tanner Scott and Edwin Diaz tasked with closing out the contest, allowing just one hit between the eighth and ninth innings combined, the Dodgers had as close to a perfect game as they could hope for on the road in a hostile environment.

Now slated to face off against the Braves at least one more time at Truist Park on Wednesday, the Dodgers have a chance to punch their ticket to the NLCS with a Game 4 win, returning to Los Angeles to prepare for the Championship Series instead of Game 5 against Atlanta.
