The Miami Dolphins host the Detroit Lions on Sunday in Week 9 of the NFL season. The game features a Miami team in the midst of a reset and hoping to see continued growth from a roster with 14 rookies and seven more first-year players. On the other side, the Lions come into the game hoping to prove they are back to being contenders for a deep NFC playoff run after settling for last place in the NFC North last year.

The Lions could serve as the example for Miami and their reset goals. The Lions underwent a massive reset in 2021, the first year under head coach Dan Campbell. Since a 3-13-1 season to start his tenure, Campbell has led the Lions to a winning record in each of the last four years, going 9-8 in 2022, 12-5 in 2023, 15-2 in 2024, and 9-8 last year, despite the fourth-place finish in the division. The Lions won the NFC North in 2023 and 2024 and advanced to the NFC Championship game in 2023. So far this season, Detroit is 5-2 and looking like they are headed to another winning season.
