Who Will Sing the National Anthem at Broncos vs. Chiefs?
Generald Wilson is wrapping up a busy stretch in Kansas City. The familiar national anthem performer’s schedule includes three Kansas City sporting events over four days.
The last stop will be the biggest of them all, with Wilson taking the stage for Monday Night Football at Arrowhead.
Wilson will start his busy stretch on Friday at a Kansas City Current match. From there, he heads to Saturday’s Sporting Kansas City game. Then, on Monday night, he closes out his run with the anthem before the Chiefs host the Broncos in their 2026 season opener.
This isn’t new territory for Wilson. He’s sung the anthem at several major Kansas City sporting events over the years, including multiple AFC Championship Games at Arrowhead. He’s become something of a go-to voice for big moments in the city.
Wilson is a Missouri native, and his path to the microphone runs through the military. He joined the Navy in 1989 and served for 21 years, beginning his professional anthem-singing career in 1998 while still on active duty.

Broncos-Chiefs Game Preview
Denver visits Arrowhead Stadium looking for its first win there against Mahomes as Kansas City’s starting quarterback, while Kansas City wants to show the league its star quarterback is fully back.
The first Monday Night Football game of the 2026 season kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET, with ESPN and ABC providing live coverage.
Mahomes’ 2025 season ended early after 14 games when he tore his ACL and LCL in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

He had surgery and went through rehab all offseason. There were real questions about whether he’d be ready for Week 1, but head coach Andy Reid and Mahomes himself have confirmed he’ll start against Denver.
Broncos quarterback Nix has his own recovery story. He broke his right ankle during a divisional-round win over Buffalo, had surgery, and underwent a minor cleanup procedure in April. Now in his third pro season, Nix is ready to go.
The Chiefs are coming off their first losing season since 2012, the year before Reid took over as head coach.
The Broncos, meanwhile, tied a franchise record with 14 regular-season wins last year, a mark they haven’t hit since going 14-2 in 1998, when they won the Super Bowl.
Denver has also won three of the last four meetings against Kansas City and enters Monday on a three-game winning streak in the series.
Pro Football Network’s 2026 season projections Denver third in playoff probability, project 10.4 wins, and give the Broncos a 79.8% chance to make the playoffs.
Kansas City ranks 14th, with the model projecting 8.8 wins and a 51.5% playoff probability, still close to a coin flip.
